We know why we set up shop in Provincetown; its overwhelming you-be-you, accepting environment and community. When the 2016 election was decided it was so important to us that queer kids today did not experience progress moving backwards. Today, we read the headlines of the various legislation being proposed around the country about transgender rights and our heart breaks. We watched Lil Nas X's response to the critics and are grateful these voices exist and are not staying silent. We've all been hoping for a quick end to the pandemic and a more equal America, but it will not happen without work and hope and action. We linked to Harvey Milk's "Give Them Hope" speech above.
When Kristen Becker reached out to discuss collaborating on something for Summer of Sass we did not hesitate. Summer of Sass transforms lives by relocating LGBTQI 18-20 year-olds from oppressive areas in the US to the welcoming community of Provincetown, Massachusetts. For years we have been telling young queers "It Gets Better"; Summer of Sass takes the message one step further by showing the next generation "what better looks like".
